FAQs

Great question! I see clients ages 16+. My clients are ready and willing to do the “deep work.” I really enjoy working with individuals who have bipolar disorder and trauma disorders (PTSD, Complex PTSD). Also, I enjoy exploring the following with clients: purpose and meaning in life, intersectionality of identities, connection, attachment, spirituality, gender, and sexuality.

What kind of clients do you see?

After graduating with my Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, I became a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Illinois and began working under the supervision of Dr. Melissa Mahon for three years. I passed the NCMHCE and fulfilled all of the requirements to upgrade my licensure, and became a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the state of Illinois. I am licensed as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHC-A) in the state of North Carolina and supervised by Laura Wooten, MSW, LCSW, LCMHC-QS. I am also EMDR trained and have completed continuing education on Trauma, PTSD, CPTSD, and Autism Spectrum Disorders.

What are your credentials?

Do you take insurance?

Yes. When I began Bliss Counseling PLLC, one of my missions was to make therapy more accessible, which is why I immediately went through the process of credentialing with both AETNA and Blue Cross Blue Shield. It took some time, but I am excited to say I am a paneled provider with these insurances! Please reach out with any questions regarding your specific plan.

I also have committed to offering a certain amount of reduced fee/sliding scale spots for folks who are in need. As Bliss Counseling PLLC grows, I hope to be able to take on more sliding scale and/or pro-bono clients, in hopes to bridge the gap for folks in marginalized communities.

Yes! And I love doing it! I am trained to administer and interpret certain psychological assessments, career assessments, and personality assessments.

Do you provide any testing or assessments?

Do you provide ADHD testing or testing for Autism?

I can provide screenings for both ADHD and Autism, but I am not trained to administer or interpret assessments that would constitute an official diagnosis of either.

I work with autistic individuals frequently and above all, honor their lived experience.

Do you provide documentation for school/work accommodations?

If my clinical judgement finds it appropriate, absolutely! Please reach out to me to inquire about the process/fees for documentation.

I already have a talk therapist, but I’m looking to have a separate therapist to focus specifically on trauma/gender exploration/neurodivergence/queer issues, etc. Can you do this?

Yeah, for sure. I realize that many people have established therapists whom they feel comfortable with, but their therapist may not be trained in treating certain things like trauma, or working with LGBTQ+ issues. I’m happy to collaborate!

I see that you are licensed in Illinois, can I see you virtually?

Yes! Reach out to me.

I do not live in Illinois or North Carolina, can you still be my therapist?

Unfortunately, not at this time. Licensure laws prohibit counselors to practice with clients who live in states that they are not licensed in. It’s kind of silly and annoying! This is the same if you are living a more nomadic lifestyle - even if you have a permanant address in IL or NC, I unfortunately cannot see you while you’re in another state.

The good news is, the Counseling Compact is due to go into effect within the next couple of years, so hopefully soon I can see you as a client if you live somewhere other than IL or NC!
